I haven't written in a long time, though Iv'e meant to. We have all been busy this year, dealing in our own ways with this global crisis, and trying to piece our lives and sanity back together.
I wanted to write today about how sometimes as creative people, no one really understands us or our work and we feel like we are expending our energy and art to an empty room. This is disheartening, and what makes it even more painful is when you can't find work doing what you love--so you can end of doing something which has nothing at all to do with your creative purpose.
It's important to hang in there, and to continue writing and creating art/music even if nobody understands or buys your work. I know that is such a strange concept~~because we live in a society so driven by monetary gain, competition, and material success. What is most important I find, is to surround yourself with people who love you, people that bring meaning to your life--and to nurture your soul. The ways I nurture my soul are: going to the ocean as much as I humanly can, learning Welsh (it takes time and space to learn a language) and make life goal (s) that are really important to you. One of my life goals is to visit the many castle ruins of Wales, because I have a connection with them--mainly because of my writing.
